Adjoa Gzifa: Empowering Youth through Education

Adjoa Gzifa is a visionary educator, program development specialist, and the driving force behind Future Scholars of the World, Inc. With a distinguished career spanning over 25 years, Adjoa has dedicated her life to empowering youth through education and advocating for quality learning experiences both locally and globally.

Adjoa’s journey in education began with a passion for making a meaningful impact on young lives. Armed with a master’s degree in urban development from the City University of New York (CUNY), she embarked on a mission to transform the educational landscape for disadvantaged youth.

In 2005, Adjoa founded Future Scholars of the World, Inc., a nonprofit organization committed to providing opportunities for underprivileged youth to access quality education. Her visionary leadership has been instrumental in shaping the organization’s mission and driving its growth.

One of Adjoa’s most notable achievements as the CEO of Future Scholars is her role in spearheading the construction of two school buildings, along with the establishment of a library and computer center at the Oshiyie school in Ghana. These initiatives have not only expanded educational access but have also created an environment where children can thrive academically.

Adjoa Gzifa is not only a dedicated educator and advocate but also an enthusiastic promoter of literacy. Her extraordinary leadership was demonstrated when she successfully collected and delivered over five hundred new books to the Oshiyie school. This initiative aimed to foster a love for reading among the children, providing them with the tools they need to excel academically and broaden their horizons.

In addition to her work in Ghana, Adjoa’s impact has reverberated globally as she continues to champion the cause of quality education for all. Her unwavering commitment to youth empowerment, paired with her experience and educational expertise, has made her a true leader extraordinaire in the field of education.

Barbara Ann Bryant Bio

Barbara Bryant is one of the original members of Future Scholars, having been involved with the organization since its inception in 2006. She has played a crucial role as the organization’s treasurer, where her financial expertise has been instrumental in its success.

Barbara’s passion for improving the lives of families, especially children, began during her first trip to Ghana in 1995. This experience seems to have had a profound impact on her and motivated her to make a positive difference in the lives of people in Africa.

After retiring from her position at the New York City Department of Education in 2008, Barbara decided to dedicate her time and resources to support people on the African continent. Her primary focus has been on providing educational opportunities for Ghanaian families, which has been the driving force behind her involvement in Future Scholars.

One noteworthy aspect of Barbara’s dedication is that she has not only contributed her financial expertise to the organization but has also personally financed and sponsored the education of six Ghanaian men. This demonstrates her strong commitment to empowering individuals through education and improving the lives of families in Ghana.

Overall, Barbara Bryant’s involvement with Future Scholars showcases her long-standing commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of children and families in Ghana, particularly through educational opportunities and support.

Steven Smalls, a retired New York City Correction Captain, is a remarkable individual whose life is defined by unwavering dedication to service, leadership, and philanthropy. With a heart committed to improving the world, Steven has left an indelible mark as a father, philanthropist, businessman, caretaker, fundraiser, and mentor.

Christine martin

Christine Martin is a celebrated retired school administrator, boasting an illustrious career spanning over three decades within the public school system. Her life’s work has been marked by an unswerving dedication to enhancing education and empowering young minds. While her professional accomplishments are noteworthy, her active involvement in public service organizations, particularly her role as a committed member of the esteemed Delta Sigma Theta sorority, further distinguishes her.

A Lifetime Dedicated to Education and Global Impact.

Vivian Glover is a respected and retired New York City Elementary School teacher who has left an indelible mark on the world of education. With a career spanning decades, she has tirelessly nurtured young minds, instilling in them a love for learning and a passion for personal growth. Her commitment to education extends beyond the classroom, as she has been an active member of the board of directors of Future Scholars of the World, Inc. since 2010.

Tricia is a seasoned sociologist and international development expert, boasting over 15 years of invaluable experience in fostering networks and communities for international development initiatives, spanning diverse regions like the United States, Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, and the former Soviet Union. Her profound impact is felt across a spectrum of renowned institutions, including UNICEF, UN Women, UNDP, UNDP-RBAS, NGO-CSW, The World Bank, The US State Department, and numerous non-governmental organizations scattered throughout Africa and Asia.

Mercedes Qualls

Mercedes Qualls is a remarkable woman whose unshakable Christian faith has guided her throughout her life. She is not only a dedicated educator but also an enthusiastic advocate for the well-being of people. Her journey has been one of using her God-given talents to not only further her own path but also to uplift her family and the larger community. Mercedes has served as a devoted teacher and a high school principal, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of countless students.
